Fans were mixed as a whole, but many said it was good that Ubisoft took 2016 off in terms of new Assassins Creed games. Origins proved to be yet another amazing Assassins Creed game according to many critics. On the same day as Super Mario Odyssey, we saw the release of both Assassins Creed: Origins and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. And the haters called the game a rip off of Sonic Adventure just because of the one city level in the game. A Hat in Time proved to be yet another gem of an indie game, and Super Mario Odyssey, while still another 3D Mario game, changed up alot of things that Mario games are known for, in favor of several new ideas and mechanics. A Hat in Time, and much later Super Mario Odyssey. October saw the release of two new 3D collectathon platformers. That came out in September 2017, and the gaming scene hasn't been the same since. Then there was the game that would spawn years of controversy in the gaming community. Star Fox 2 released as one of the games in the SNES Classic. The biggest surprise, however, was the release of a brand SNES game. The game is designed like a cartoon from the 1930s, and it honestly looks amazing. Cuphead came out and was praised non stop for it's art style, music and bosses. One surprise game that came out was Golf Story, a well received golf RPG that is getting a sequel, Sports Story. From what I've seen, MvCI looks like it plays well enough, but the weak graphics and miniscule roster made it one of 2017s most hated games, alongside Knack 2 and Mass Effect Andromeda. MvCI was criticized to hell, and Pokken wasn't. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and Pokken Tournament Deluxe. Samus Returns is somehow more diffficult that AM2R, bjt it has way more combat options, at least for being so early in the game. I have AM2R, but my file keeps corrupting. Metroid: Samus Returns released on 3DS and I love this game. There's at least one person out there who likes Destiny 2. Divinity: Original Sin 2 came out, I know people love that game. Look I knew the game got dark in the second half, but good lord I was not ready for what I witnessed. Yeah Doki Doki Literature Club released this month and remains the only video game to ever give me legit nightmares the first time I watched it. September is the only month you should pay attention to. I don't own it yet, but from what I've played, this game is everything I could've wanted from a remaster of my first video ever, Crash Bandicoot Warped, as well as the best game in the series, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back.

However for me the highlight of the month was the biggest heap of nostalgia I could ever ask for. I know almost nothing about other than it includes something about Final Fantasy Tactics, and I only even know THAT much because of ProJared. Final Fantasy XIV would get a new expansion, Stormblood. I recently got it like a month ago and have been anything but disappointed.

I played a bit of it and loved it, but I owm Android and wouldn't be able to play this beautiful puzzle game until nearly 3 years later when it would release on Android. I admit I haven't played any of the story in any Tekken game, but I played Tekken 7 for hours with my cousin and loved every second of it. Tekken 7 also came out and man I love me some Tekken.

Legacy taking a decent 2D shooter/platformer hybrid and making it and epic 3D war with added online, but removed the plaforming. Mobile gaming got a hella fun 3D remake of the Gameloft classic N.O.V.A., with N.O.V.A.

Even mobile got Super Mario Run, which even I admit I still have fun with today.

That same month we would see Nier: Automata, the sequel to cult classic, as well as Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, the final update the the MvC3 game. Breath of the Wild and the Switch would revive Nintendo and put them back on the map. Not Just Dance, not Snipperclips, not 1-2 Switch. At the time, this was what everyone bought the Switch for. With it came a brand new Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The Nintendo Switch released on March 3rd, 2017. Fortunately, Nintendo would learn from their mistakes. The Wii U ended up selling less than the Dreamcast, and the failure of the Dreamcast is what put Sega into third party. A failing console with barely any games to boot. I love you Nintendo, but 2013-2016 had to be the worst period for you ever.
